Class Descriptions
Mixed Media
Our core classes for all abilities. Each class is structured to cover a variety of techniques and subject matter to draw and paint over each term.
Life drawing
Very popular classes with a professional model each week. Short and long poses each session, max. 8 students and plenty of individual support
Oil Painting
For all students including those who have little or no experience with oil paints. A step by step approach is taken to explore the medium.
Charcoal & Pastels
For all students, including those who have little or no experience with pastels. A step by step approach is taken to explore the medium.
Drawing
Looks at all aspects of drawing including line, rhythm, tone, composition and perspective. Classes will push the boundaries with unusual drawing techniques, equipment and materials.
Watercolours and Inks
We will learn about: basic watercolour techniques; washes, layering and glazing. We will explore colour mixing, use different types of brush shapes to create different lines , shapes and textures.
Calligraphy
Please enquire for our next sessions. These are short courses from our Specialist Tutor Douglas Bevans.
Bookbinding & Paper Folding
A short course creating simple books by folding, glueing, or sewing, all are simple hand-made bindings requiring no specialised equipment.
Playful Drawing for Children
Occasional Saturday afternoon classes with tutor Katherine who will stretch your imagination and drawing skills in these fun sessions. Recommended for children over seven years old (fun for adults too)
Botanical Art Group
An interest in the subject and some previous experience is recommended to join this informal group who meet weekly to work independently (no tutor).
