Portrait Painting Workshop

Make a portrait painting from one long pose of the head alone, or a half length figure. You will receive plenty of individual guidance, tailored suggestions for relevant artists, and targeted drawing techniques to refine your approach.

Mark will show the class examples by modern artists. I will talk about the structure of the head, colour and form, composition and painting techniques.

The class is suitable for beginners to advanced level.

MATERIALS

Basics - A5/A4 sketchbook, pencils (HB/B & 4B), sharpener, eraser, paper (cartridge, A3 pad or loose)

Charcoals and white chalk - willow charcoals, medium size and standard black board chalks

Pastels, paints - you can use your preferred medium! Pastels, oils or acrylics are recommended
