From Oil Pastels to Oil Painting: a Journey Exploring Techniques and Colour

Learn techniques of pastel blending in drawing to prepare for oil painting, and painting techniques through a series of sessions on Landscape and Still Life. Take in how other artists have painted these subjects and learn about supports and styles. The sessions include a mix of instruction, demonstration and hands on practice!

Coloured paper or sugar paper, a set of oil pastels

Brushes: Hog hair bristle and prolene nylon, range of Filberts and flat and round

Palette knife

Apron or old top, rag

Odourless white spirit (Zest it or Sandoor)

Refined Linseed Oil (or Liquin or Roberson’s medium).

Palette paper

Canvas or canvas boards

Canvas Paper

Oil paints: Titanium/Zinc White, Burnt Umber, Siena Brown, Yellow Ochre, French Ultramarine, Cerulean & Cobalt Blue, Cadmium & Lemon Yellow, Alizarin Crimson, Cadmium Red.
