Tuesday evening short course: The Head

Develop your understanding of the human head and explore a variety of ways of making portrait drawings and paintings.

Use line to explore and understand forms; and work with tone and colour to create solidity and atmosphere. We will explore ways to create a likeness as well as expressive and characterful portraits. We will use pencil, charcoal and acrylics.

The course will suit beginners and those with experience of portrait painting.

Basics - A5/A4 sketchbook, pencils (HB/B & 4B), sharpener, eraser, paper (cartridge, A3 pad or loose)

Charcoals and white chalk - willow charcoals, medium size and standard black board chalks

Acrilycs - standard set of colors and brushes
