Monday Oil Painting Class: Exploring Techniques and Colour

A course for beginners and intermediate artists looking to enhance their skills. You will learn about oil painting techniques, colour theory, brush techniques, composition, Landscape, Still life and City scape (taking in how other artists have painted these subjects) and to start with, how to prepare a canvas for painting. The sessions will include a mix of instruction, demonstration and hands on practice.

Hog hair bristle brushes - Filberts, flat and round

Palette knife

Odourless white spirit e.g. Zest it

Refined linseed Oil - or Liquin/Robersons Oil medium

Palette - with thumb hole

Palette cups or Glass Jars - for holding zest it and oil

Rags and kitchen paper

Canvas or canvas boards

Canvas Paper for sketches in oil

Oil paints - Titanium White (and Zinc), Burnt Umber, Siena Brown, Yellow Ochre, French Ultramarine, Cerulean Blue, Cobalt Blue, Cadmium Yellow, Lemon Yellow, Alizarin Crimson, Cadmium Red
